Seeing the movie, Hotel Rwanda changed my life. It was one of the major forces that thrust me into blogging. I was profoundly aware that during the time of the genocide in Rwanda, I was unaware, uneducated and inactive. Watching the movie, i was ashamed. I was challenged to remember that i have choices. I can choose to never be silent, when i should speak, to not remain inactive, when i should act, and most of all that one person's choices and actions can make a difference!
Shane Mullin posted on taking the Darfur Pledge, and i am going to take the pledge! it is a small thing, but it is something. I think that the injustice and suffering in the world is so overwhelming at times that it threatens to paralyze me, to paralyze us, as we realize that we cannot do everything. But i can do something! We can each do something!
My something can be a daily phone call/email expressing my outrage at the genocide in Darfur, joining with other voices, hoping to create political pressure, that will cause our government to take action. Won't you join me? Together, we can do something that may change the world...
